Of recent I've worked some 8 hour shifts, so I really only need a snack, not a full dinner. Bill, as usual, tries to come up with something that's just right for the occasion. Tonight he hit the nail on the head.

My snack was several semi-circles of dried salami, a wedge of brie cheese, small slices of french bread, and a salad of baby greens, meditarranean olives, dried cranberries, and crumbled cheese. The salad needs no explanation except to say that it was yummy. The rest really took me back to my childhood when we would have picnic lunches like this on the road (with cheddar cheese instead of the brie.) In any case, I melted the brie in the microwave, smeared it on the bread, and enjoyed it with the salami.

This was probably one of my most memorable meals. It ranks right up there with the lobster. ;)

Thanks again honey.

Weekend of yumminess

Friday night Bill asked me what I'd like for dinner (very unusual - usually he makes it a surprise.) I told him that the steak we had Wednesday night would make a nice sandwich. I never realized where that would go. He didn't just make a sandwich, he made a wonderful creation that involved the tastey steak, brie, bbq sauce, and mayo I think. It came with a gourmet salad, milk, and a nice little mini chocolate bar treat.

Tonight (Saturday night) I was treated to raviolis with a fancy smancey sauce, another gourmet salad, a nectarine, and milk. Yum, yum.

Both meals were just perfect in tastiness, variety, and size. The potatoes went uneaten as they weren't very good even with steak sauce added. I don't feel bad about that since I know the deli did the cooking on that item. The salad was once again delicious. I love the cranberries in it. The mixed berries were mostly good, but some tasted a little "off". All in all it was a pretty good meal though I had to eat so late that I'm still hungry.

The Dr. Pepper? You thought I forgot, didn't you? All I ask is that next time you send a drink requiring a bottle opener that you also send the bottle opener. Thankfully my partner in the ambulance had one on his utility knife, so I didn't go thirsty on the long ride. ;)

Thanks again for all the thought and effort you put into my dinners.

Unusual assortment of food

Dinner was a PBJ with blueberry jam (for future reference I'm not really fond of blueberry jam), cheddar cheese chips, a green salad with cranberries, peanuts, and garbanzo beans, and chocolate dipped strawberries. I have taken to making birthday cakes. It all started because I knew Val liked Elmo, and I saw this Elmo cake pan in a catalog. I thought to myself, "How hard could it be?" Liz liked the idea, so I ran with it. Here is the cake as it started out (actually it started as flour, sugar, milk, etc., but I won't split hairs): Here is how it looked after decorating, and here is how it looked after Val got to it.However, before Val's birthday came the girls birthday, and I also happened to find some Curious George decorations online, so I decided to make their cakes. It was very challenging as we were having record breaking heat, and the butter cream kept melting, so I had to alternate putting it in the fridge with using ice packs while I piped (my hands were too hot.) I think they came out great though. Especially since I have never taken a single cake decorating class in my life.

The final cake was for Val's actual birthday. I couldn't leave her with leftover cake for her first birthday, so there was nothing to do but make her another cake.Sam was very funny about it. She said, "Val has two cakes. Why?" I explained to her that the first one was for the day of Val's party and the second for her actual birthday, to which Sam replied, "Ohhhhhhh."

My next cake will be for Bill's birthday. Stay tuned for new pics.

Mmmm, mmmm, good

And no it wasn't soup. It was an unusual night for me to work, and a work day for my hubby, so it made his job that much more challenging. Though he couldn't make the meal himself, he took much care in making sure it was something I would like, and even put milk money in my lunch bag for me. "What was it he got for me?", you ask. A delicious sandwich from Subway, two cookies, chips, and the milk money. I shared the chips and cookies with co-workers who again marveled at how spoiled I am.

Tonight was another homemade specialty dinner. I had ribs (I believe they'd be called shortribs), a salad (I missed the crumbled cheese I've become accustomed to), fruit cocktail, and not one, but two chocolate milks (they were small.)

I can't wait to see what I get tomorrow night. Whatever it is I'm sure it will be good, and it will make my night at work much better.

Lack of comments

I can't help but notice that there have been no comments on this blog since Christmas day, so I will cease to blog my dietary preferences unless I get an appropriate response soon. It was the perfect little dinner for me.

Tomorrow I go back to being vegetarian. ;)

101 reasons why I love my husband...

...and none of them have to do with my food blog. However, I have to say that I do appreciate the fact that despite working at a job he strongly dislikes all week, he takes the time to make me thoughtful and delicious meals to take to work. This weeks meal was no different.

It started off with a very tasty salad, continued with a yummy pork chop atop elbow macaroni, and finished with yet another chocolate Easter Egg (Pictures below). The only complaint I have (and only because he asks for them) is that the macaroni needed some sort of sauce. Other than that, it was all delicious.

Thank you, thank you, thank you from the center of my tummy (as opposed to the bottom of my heart.) ;)

Mystery Treat

Ok, it's been a long time since I posted here, but rest assured I have had some great meals in that time including wonderful salads, some delicious ribs, a pork chop that could have fed 3 people, and many other yummy things. Sometimes work is just a little too busy to allow me time to blog, so we'll try to start again with tonights dinner.

Tonight I was forewarned that I had a treat in my lunch that didn't look like food, but that I should try it anyway. I was a little concerned, but am game for anything since I know what he usually sends me with is pretty good. Dinner started off with an olive tapenade sandwich and a greek salad which were delicious and made everyone in the break room a little jealous, especially since they found out that my hubby makes all my dinners. This was followed by apple slices and what appeared to be a beautiful Easter Egg. In reality it was an egg shell that had been hollowed out, filled with chocolate, and colored beautifully. It wasn't just any chocolate either, it tasted a lot like those Rocher (sp?) chocolates, the hazelnut ones. Again, it was quite good although a little too much to eat in one sitting.

Thanks again for my terrific dinners. Yum!

Mmmm, mmmmm good.

Tonights dinner was a little smaller, but more than enough. This might be a better size to go with in the future. I had a steak which was done just the way I like it - almost mooing. Strange coming from a former vegetarian. I also had sugar snap peas and milk. On a side note (I keep forgetting to tell you), trying to keep the main course warm is probably pointless at this time. I don't normally get to eat until about 6 hours into my shift (at the earliest) these days, so it has already reached room temp.

Still left is my chocolate milk and Ho Ho's. Can't wait for my 4:00 A.M. snack.

Thanks for doing such a great job on my dinners. Last night I had one of my favorite snacks, cheese, salami, and sourdough bread. Yum yum. Tonights snack consisted of ribs complete with BBQ sauce, yogurt, cheese, and brownies (there were brownies last night too, but I didn't get a chance to eat them.)

Wonderful stuff even if it couldn't be called a dinner - thanks sweetie.

Can I work again tomorrow night?

Yes, my dinner and unexpected treats were so good I'd work another night for them.

Tonight I had a delicious pork chop with grilled potatoes and bacon that were done to perfection. A lovely salad with feta and olives, fruit cocktail, and of course my favorite beverages, milk and chocolate milk.

On it's own it was a lovely dinner and quite yummy. However, it came accompanied by a bottle of sparkling lemonade that was big enough to share with the other nurses in my room, and some bite sized cupcakes. A very nice New Years surprise. Angie, Tammi, Arlene, and Shari thank you as well. We should get some more of that for home.

The rest of the cupcakes were put in the break room for the other nurses who appreciated them as well.

Thanks for all your hard work on my lunches/dinners this past year. It was a much smaller affair than had taken place in the past, but much better timed and much more relaxed. Bill and I are getting better at coordinating functions here.

As for the food, Bill did a marvelous job with the ham, it was juicy, delicious, and cooked to perfection. Everyone commented on how delicious it was. He also made his famous cheesey potatoes which I didn't realize he called Tante Potatoes, but Tante Angelica helped him perfect his recipe for it. I have to say, he does a great job of putting together a holiday meal. In addition, we had rolls, my youger sister brought a yummy salad with a cilantro dressing, and my older sister brought mulled wine. My parents came as well (they're usually not here this time of year) and they brought some really delicious green beans. The night was topped off with homemade pumpkin pie.

I beleive we all had a really great time. Can't wait for next year.

Santa Claus has come to town

Something I haven't had in a long time - cheese stuffed shells. I left the house tonight with a verbal note from my hubby that I only had one drink in my dinner tonight. As it turned out, one drink was all I needed.

I LOVE my special treat that was in my lunch tonight - a new pair of Christmas socks with doggies on them. Now when I say my dogs are barking, I can mean it. ;)

Lastly, though not related to food, I have to thank my hubby for waking me up on time and prodding me to get into the shower so I wouldn't be late for work. I had a BLT in my lunch tonight, very good. I haven't had one in quite some time, and this one was made with premium bacon cooked to perfection. Delicious. I also had bing cherries. Yes, I said bing cherries. I don't know where they were grown, but they had them at our local market and they were delicious as well. I had yogurt, but had to toss it because the seal was broken on it - don't know if it came from the store that way or if it happened in my lunchbox. Lastly I had both regular and chocolate milk. Mmmmm, Mmmmm good.

One final request - I need more ice in my lunchbox. The milks aren't quite staying cold till 3:00 A.M. The roastbeef was excellent. The creativity for putting sundried tomato tamponade on it gets an A+. The resulting flavor combination however, ranks a C. The tomato was just a little too overpowering and sweet for the roast beef. Also had fruit cocktail - yum, dark chocolate covered pretzels - double yum, and sugar snap peas - delicious. Beverages were regular and chocolate milks, good combo. Thanks for the creative effort, and for keeping me fed at night.

Oh yeah, kudos for having a hot dinner ready for me when I wake up. In addition I had a delicious salad with smoked gouda, salami, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, and other goodies. I also had some canned peaches which doesn't sound like much, but I love them. Delicious! I opened up my dinner last night and then I had to leave the room for a few minutes. Upon my return, everyone was commenting on how wonderful my dinner looked. Apparently it had been the focus of discussion while I was gone, and everyone was so impressed with my hubby-made-dinner.

Later that night I had a nice little snack of chocolate milk. This was one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. Marinated mozzarella (marinated by the wonderful hubby)with tomato and salami on sliced sourdough. It doesn't get much better than that unless you pair it with an equally delicioius salad. There were a few more goodies that were thrown in, but didn't get consumed due to the busy night. What I did have was great though.

Sat: Had ravioli tonight which was good, but a little too much, and the sauce needed to be mixed with the ravioli instead of scooped on top. I only say this because by the time I got to dinner the raviolis had melded into one giant ravioli. Still good however. Another delicious salad and tonight I actually got to eat my bat cookie (yummy Halloween treat) and drink my chocolate milk. I'm not giving up my membership in the 12 and under club any time soon.

Thank you sweetie for all your hard work. Was all set to reheat my dinner when what to my surprise there wasn't anything hot in there. That was great - couldn't have been a more perfect night for it. What I did have was a delicious BLT, with what looked like a great salad except for one small problem - no salad dressing. Oh well. I also had some strawberries, yummy! What a nice treat for this time of year. German lemon cookies made for a nice dessert. I like the "defective" ones better. Very yummy, but with my new later eating time (no more pumping) the warm pack doesn't keep the food warm anymore. The upside is that I can use the microwave to heat it, so all is good.

Saturday: Pork chop - made everyone in the breakroom drool and envious that my hubby makes me such great lunches. There was also talk about the heart shaped sandwiches that you made me a month or so ago as well as the occasional flower or other surprise that you put in my lunch. I could probably hire you out.

Sunday: Had to pump again since I didn't get to nurse the girls tonight which means dinner was a little earlier and still warm. Interesting steak kabobs - a little tough and too much meat for me, but overall good. I haven't eaten the salad yet, but am looking forward to it.

Though it's not dinner related, I have to say that having German Pancakes ready when I got home from work was a great treat. There was also a good salad with kalmetta olives and goat cheese. Yum yum. Yes, I know,it sounds like a 12 year olds lunch with a twist, but hey, sometimes you just have to be 12 again.

Saturday night I was home. We had some yummy porkchops that were grilled perfectly.

Sunday night was an extra special treat. I had worked Sunday afternoon at our Grad party and then had to come back to work my regular shift that night. Yep, made for a long day. Anyway, it ended up being extra nice because Bill brought the girls down to deliver dinner. Everyone got to see them while they just hung out wide eyed at all the fuss.

Another fabulous weekend brought to you by my hubby.

Almost illegal?

Ok, the almost illegal part of my dinner was a creme brulee which he actually sent the torch with so that I could carmelize the top just prior to eating. Anyway, tonight the warm phase consisted of what I would describe as a roast cut like a steak. Whatever it's really called, it was delicious. Nice and tender and juicy. It was served over spaetzle noodles. So far nothing illegal. I guess I'll have to wait for the cold food to start breaking the law.

Long over due kudos to hubby

Last weekend I'm sad to say I don't remember everything that was in my dinner, but I do know there was some homemade stroganoff. Delicious stuff. The only criticism if I had to make one, is that it needed a tad more sauce. Yum, yum, yum.

Last night dinner featured fish, pasta, salad, and the dessert of 12 year olds (oreos and chocolate milk.) The fish was marvalously prepared, however much to the chagrin of the chef the fish itself was flavorless. The only way to avoid this would be to breed it himself I guess. I never got to eat the salad because I was sent on transport, but that's where the cookies and milk came in handy. I had them in the ambulance on the way to pick up the little peanut, followed by a quick nap.

Tonights fare was comprised of stuffed pasta shells (delicious, but a few too many - two would be about right), salad, a plum, chocolate and regular milk, but sadly no oreos.

What will tomorrows dinner bring? Hmmmmm.

Labor day weekend or the Spanish Revolution?

Apparently we've had a revolution tonight. Dinner was soft tacos with chips, salsa, and guacamole. However, just to prove we can do it however we like, there was a very American berry pie thrown in for good measure. Different type of meal that I never suspected I would get in my lunch box, but surprisingly it really worked.

On another note, the creative use of the foil divider in the lunch box (bottom half with ice and cold food, top half with heat pack and hot food) is really working. I like it.

Thanks again for the fabuloso el dinnero. Yum yum.

Today (Sunday) started with a BBQ for some friends of ours (see standard blog) where Bill took another stab at his 50k burgers. I thought they were delicious - he may have finally perfected his burger, just a little tweak needed on the bread. Can't wait till we can share the deliciousness with all of you.

Anyway, I had to leave early to go to work. My hubby had someone deliver dinner to me. It consisted of smoked chicken wings (delicious little treat on any day), snap peas, celery, cake (thanks RandA), grape soda, and chocolate milk with oreos (I feel like such a little kid when I eat these.)

On another note, I FINALLY got german pancakes AFTER being promised them for 13 years. I have to say they were delicious and worth the wait. It would be my hubby. Despite the fact that he worked all day, had to catch the train home in time for me to go to work, he still managed to put together a dinner for me. How sweet is that?

Dinner consisted of a turkey and goat cheese (I think it was goat cheese) sandwich on foccacia bread that was quite yummy. I also had a caeser salad that he purchased at a deli in the city and while it was good, it could not compare to the wonderful salads that Bill makes for me. He also included cranberry juice and oreo cookies (good to be 12 again.)

Overall, it was a good dinner, and even more so since once again, I didn't have to make it. It was just so quick, convenient, and relatively cheap. Besides, I like the french fries. In any case, since my hubby has been spoiling me with all this homecooked goodness Mcdonalds is just not the same. We were out yesterday, and starving, so we went by McD's and got the usual. It really didn't hit the spot like it used to - in fact, I'd have to say that I finally get what all of you have been saying for years about it being terrible. This was accompanied by yogurt, a nectarine, and something else that sadly I can't remember.

Sunday:
Before work, Bill grilled up some delicious (probably the best I've ever had) hamburgers. He is on a mission to win the $50,000 best burger contest and is beginning work on his creation. Tonight was step one, and if it's any indication of what's to come, he will definitely win.

Dinner at work:
Tacos, another delicious Spinach salad, more yogurt (getting tired of yogurt), milk, root beer, two apricots that I swear were as big as my head and pretty tasty too, and red vine licorice which everyone in my room enjoyed.

It's so wonderful having a personal chef, and it's also nice to have everyone at work a little jealous of that fact. :)

Good work, thanks once again.

I am sooooo spoiled

Tonights dinner would be better than the average dinner that people take to work - in fact it was better than most people take to work. However, I have apparently become very spoiled. I had a perfectly lovely spinach salad with goat cheese, but I kept wondering what happened to the olives, the sun dried tomatoes, and the croutons. How terrible is that. In addition to the salad, the chef prepared quite a lovely turkey and smoked gouda sandwich, provided with milk, oreos, blackberry pie, pringles (I think the chef may have been PMSing with all the treats.) ;) Oh yeah, I also had some wonderful Queen Anne cherries which I loved, not just because they are my name sake, but because they were perfectly ripe, sweet, and delicous.

I was so starving by the time I finally got to eat, that I had everything in one sitting instead of spreading it out over the night. He does a great job with it, but somehow even this couldn't go down very well tonight. I didn't get to eat till 5:00 because of my "work" with Tyler. Needless to say nothing was going to taste good then. The rest of the fare is stuff that would also have been equally delicious if my mind were not on other things. I had a great spinch salad with feta, olives, croutons, etc., peaches, cottage cheese, and not one but two packs of cookies - milanos and oreos. Yahoo! I had a meeting to go to (which was apparently cancelled or moved), so being very angry I called the hubby. While I was on my way home, he made me a little baguette sandwich (which I ate open faced) with smoked gouda, salami, and pizza sauce. A simple creation really, but very good, and the fact that he made it for me changed my whole attitude for the night. I picked door number two because I always like the happy little surprise I get when I open my lunchbox. Tonight the surprise was that I got ribs (apparently door number one was the same as door number two.) No matter, more importantly I have to say, THE RIBS WERE F'ING AWESOME - I would venture to say the best I've ever had. They were tender, juicy, and falling off the bone, but not so much that they would be considered mush. I can't say enough about how good these ribs were except, "DO IT AGAIN!!!"

In addition, I had a rather odd assortment of goodies: Milk, salad (with a delicious variety of olives - more spinach next time please), strawberries, chocolate chocolate chip muffin, goldfish crackers, yogurt, and my beloved Andes mint.

Thanks again, and MORE RIBS PLEASE!!

Weekend food update

Friday:
Fresh Mozzarella, tomato, and basil sandwich on sourdough. This was such a delicious surprise. Also had chocolate dipped oreos - yum yum. It's Sunday now, and I've been working all weekend, so I'm sorry to say I don't remember what else was on Fridays menu, but I know it was good.

Saturday:
Chicken wings and salad. Mmmm, Mmmm good. The chicken wings were of course, fabulous - you are really outdoing yourself with these. The salad was very good, and even though I've been getting weekly salads, they still surprise me. I loved the all the different olives in this salad. The berry pie was good with the milk, and the peaches made an awesome early morning snack. Again, I know there was something else, but I just can't remember at this point in time.

Tonight (Sunday):
Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful pork chop. Grilled perfectly. I've also had the milk with the oreos, and am saving what looks like another fabulous salad for later on tonight. It looks like I get the bonus grape soda tonight and a couple of other things I haven't peeked at yet.

All in all, another great weekend feast. All the other nurses are jealous of my wonderful lunches/dinners packed by my hubby. Thanks so much.

Oh my, where do I start?

Sun Night:
Grilled skirt steak with potatoes on the side was a tasty way to start my meal. Had that with the milk for my pump break.

The pasta salad however, was to die for. Very nice. Cherries are always a good treat as are my beloved Andes Mints. The Doc Browns Cream Soda was a surprise, but enjoyed very much.

The one disappointment was the pumpkin cheesecake. It was too heavy and the flavor was funny to me. I bet you thoroughly enjoyed yours however.

Sat Night:
Couldn't decide where to start with dinner, it was all so yummy, so I ended up eating it all at my pump break. Delicious salad which the only thing that could have made it better was a bigger bowl. Grilled potatoes and Bill's special smoked chicken wings - superb.

I did manage to save the fruit for a snack at 3:00 A.M.

All in all, a weekend of good fare.

Picnic food

Perfect dinner since I had to eat a bit late due to issues at work. Didn't get to eat dinner, so was starved by the time I got home this morning. Loving hubby had french toast ready and waiting (had to nurse the velocirapters first). Put the strawberries from my dinner on the french toast which made it an extra yummy treat.

Despite the bad night, I did get a chance to pump at which time I ate my pork chop (or was it steak?) Oh wait, it had to be a pork chop, there wasn't any A-1 in my bag. ;) It was very yummy as was the cornbread and milk.

Tonight I had a salad with goat cheese, tomatoes, croutons, and olives (yep, I took the container and dumped 'em on the salad.) It was quite delicious. I had this during my pump break, along with the milk and the super delicious apple dessert that Angelica made. I am such a lucky girl.

Later on I actually took a dinner break. For this I had fruit cocktail, carrots, an Andes mint, and two super wonderful little heart shaped sandwiches. Everyone in the break room ooh'd and ahh'd and claimed my hubby must love me very much. Yay! I love him too.

That's it for the weekend food blog. See you all next week.

My kingdom for a fork, or a steak...

Ok, long time, no blog. I'll have to post the same comment on my other blog.

We'll start with today and work our way back through this weekend - any further would just be silly to try and remember.

Tonights dinner started off with a wonderful porkchop, grilled just right - or so I thought. After conferring with the hubby, it has come to my attention that it was a steak, and that's why I had A-1 in my lunch bag too. I'm a little concerned, but so not sick so far. Dinner continued with a lovely salad which had goat cheese and sundried tomatoes - yum, yum. For dessert there were raspberries with whip cream, jellie bellies, and my favorite little Andes mint. Oh yeah, I also had milk which I maintain is just wrong to be drinking when you're pumping. It was appreciated just the same.

Last night I had the most fabulous salad. I think it rates as one of the top 3 I've had in my life, it was just that good. There were baby greens, salami, fresh mozarella, olives, and more. It was just so fresh, and the flavors blended perfectly, just the right proportions. The only thing that could have made it better was a fork to eat it with. ;) The also rans last night were fruit cocktail, carrots with bleu cheese, and a brownie made to the correct thickness (thanks to Angelica for figuring that one out). All good.

Finally, Friday nights fare was highlighted by a roast beef and avocado sandwich from Subway. Quite delicious. I also had a grape soda, salt and vinegar chips, and a couple other things which I'm sorry to say I can't recollect at this moment in time.

Thank you, thank you, thank you hubby for another wonderful weekend of dinners (and the many weeks of dinners at home.)

Salad Packs, good in a pinch

Tonight's dinner featured a premade salad pack carefully disguised as a regular salad. To give it it's due, it was pretty good. However, the salads my hubby makes are much better. Dinner also sported cherry tomatoes (love the squirt), snap peas, splat crackers (goldfish crackers in a splat shape), cherry pie, milk, and a grape soda. Mostly healthy with just enough snack to quench the crave.

Last nights dinner should be given it's proper kudos. I had a BBQ t-bone steak, grilled potatoes, and some miscellaneous other items. The other nurses in the break room with me were raving over my dinner just by the smell alone, and yes, it was that good. Oh yeah, the hubby had enough foresight to pack some A-1 to go with the steak, the steak was so good on it's own that it didn't need it, and it was big enough to last me for dinner as well as for a snack later. Yummmmm.

Midwest Cuisine

Before tonights dinner, I should start with last nights dinner since I didn't get a chance to blog last night. The main course was a stuffed rigatoni which was pretty yummy, and the star was strawberries with sour cream and brown sugar. Some also rans were cottage cheese, milk, and my lovely andes mints topped it all off.

Tonight we had the midwest fare with a California twist. I had what I think was a skirt steak which was pretty yummy with some delicious herbed, cheesey potatoes. I also had milk (which by the way is pretty weird to be drinking when you're pumping, but delicious all the same.) In addition there were mini oreos, andes mints (yeah), two cottage cheeses, some veggies, and something else which I haven't opened yet - it's a mystery. It started off with milk that was curdled into cottage cheese (a horrible thing to have in your mouth), followed by dry tough chicken (not his fault, it was a microwave variety), and topped off with a rotten plum.

Thinking I was going to have to starve for the night, yet afraid to dive into the rest of my lunch I thought I'd give him the benefit of the doubt and go for it. The rest of my lunch/dinner was up to his usual wonderful performance. I seriously don't think I could think up as many dinners as my hubby has. Tonights dinner was no exception. As the main course I had a turkey loaf which is the upscale version of trailer trash meatloaf. Normally I love this delicacy from the freezer section, but tonight I didn't get to eat till really late and alas the turkey loaf was cold. Cold turkey loaf, not so good. A quick zap in the microwave did wonders for this little congealed piece of meat. In addition to this I had a yummy spinach salad - Yeah!!, cottage cheese (I'm one of the few people that actually feel this is yummy), peaches, a cherry pie, and a rootbeer. For some reason tonight I was really craving ice cream with my root beer, but I think requesting a root beer float would be a bit too much even for my creative lunch maker. Oh yeah, I had a strawberry too. I think that's it for tonight. Overall, another wonderful success for my hubby.

You can even learn something from your dinner.

Tonights headliner of dinner was a beef stroganoff with fusilli pasta - yes, you heard it, fusilli pasta. I use to just call this the curly pasta, or the twisty pasta, but apparently it has a real name and it's fusilli. In any case, it was pretty good.

However, the real star was something I've only had once before in my life - strawberries with cream and brown sugar. What a decadent treat. Yummy!!

There was also a spinach salad with crumbled blue cheese (or was it gorgonzola)and tomatoes. Always a good dinner pairing - I could eat spinach salad till I turned green myself. Some other good things to go in spinach salad - dried cranberries, walnuts, chopped pears, goat cheese, however not all of these together in the same spinach salad.

Lastly, I got one of my prized Andes Mints. :)

Thanks again for a fab. u. lous. dinner.

Picnic Dinner

Long time, no blog on the food front. Before I get to tonights dinner, let me say that over the last few weeks I've had some wonderful surprises and dinners both here at work and at home, so for these I say, "Thank you."

Tonights dinner was an interesting sandwich - salad combination. Yummy spinach salad with my ever favorite feta cheese. Sandwich has not been attacked yet, but looks delicious with veggies and everything. I also get my favorite peaches, chocolate chip cookies, and for a nice twist, vinegar and salt potato chips. I think this is the first time I've gotten potato chips in my lunch which in combination with the sandwich is why I've called this a picnic lunch. The rootbeer topped it off.

I missed the Andes mint though.

Spaghettirama

Spaghetti might sound simple, but it was a nice change of pace, AND it was still warm. Score one for the Billster. The olives and mushrooms were a nice bonus. I liked the cheese bread - was that a hint of rosemary I tasted? When they're that big though, only one piece please. The salad as usual was very yummy and I liked the white peaches and cottage cheese. Oh, and the pepperoni in the salad was kind of nice. The Ritz bits were okay, not a huge fan, but they made for a good middle of the night snack. I kind of missed my Andes mints though. ;(

Mr. Potato Head

This was actually a hot meal, not warm, but hot. I'm not sure how you did it, but it was yummy. The potato was almost like it had just come out of the oven. The rest of the stuff you already know about. I like the shrimp though I would like it more if you would put a little paper towel or something under the shrimp - as they thaw, they get very soggy. I love the peaches, and even drink the juice that's left. I still have the cottage cheese, carrots, and cheese nips for later tonight. The cheesy, bacony potato was definitely a hit though. Thanks again.

Non-generic pickles

Dinner was okay - pretty good for putting it together in 4 minutes flat. Didn't like the strawberry cottage cheese thing - apparently the only good one is the raspberry and the peach is okay. The olives as always were yummy and I liked the carrots and bleu cheese dressing and of course the chocolate chip cookies. I almost forgot, packing the milk next to the ice pack kept is nice and icey cold the way I like it. What am I forgetting? Oh yeah, the sandwich. It had potential, but needed a little more mayo - it was kind of dry, and I'm not sure what I was supposed to use the knife for. As for the pickles, I thought they were the kind I liked, but apparently they weren't generic enough - they tasted too sweet and were squishy. You know how I hate squishy food. ;)

Bottom line is that it was nice to have dinner. Thank you.

Double Delight

Tonight, though touted as "having to scrape the barrel" ended up being a very good dinner. Shrimp was yummy and the salad was top notch. I liked the cottage cheese and fruit cocktail which I ate together. The mints were a very nice touch, and I especially liked the biter biscuit (though I didn't eat it) that the twins apparently slipped in. As an added bonus, I got to have dinner in the break room (since I don't have to pump in the middle of the night anymore) and everyone was very impressed with my dinner, particularly the "milk money", they thought that was very sweet. Then I had to tell them about my other dinners and other treats and they were all very jealous.

However, I didn't have spend my "milk money" tonight cuz the managers got us Togos, chips, and sodas, so I snagged an extra soda and put it in my lunch. Score!

Thanks again for another wonderful dinner.

Return of the Chicken (aka: Buffalo) wings.

Yummy dinner, still warm, though a bit messy. The evening started with english muffin pizzas which were quite yummy despite the fact that they were center loaded. ;) This was followed by an olive tapinade (sp?) over crackers, and might I say there were the exact number of crackers needed to finish off the olive concoction? Yum yum. The final course of this lovely meal was a Take 5 bar which is a nice little chocolate creation which has pretzels, caramel, a cookie center, chocolate, and peanuts I think. In any case I just discovered them a couple of weeks ago, and find them to be a nice treat.

My snack later in the night consisted of a "crudite platter" of celery, cherry tomatoes, carrots and blue cheese dressing. I also had cottage cheese with raspberry which I liked much better then the peach one I had a few weeks back.

Finally, I had a tuna over crackers snack pack. Personally, I think this was the only low part of the dinner/snacks. The package did not have enough mayonaise for the tuna, the spoon provided with it was not nearly strong enough to take care of it, and the mint that came with it was disgusting. We could probably save a lot of money by making our own "tuna pack".

All in all though, another wonderful dinner from my hubby.

Chicken Wings

Tonights fare consisted of BBQ chicken wings (aka: Buffalo Wings) which were mighty tasty AND still warm having been lovingly wrapped in foil before being placed in tupperware in the upper half of a double cooler type lunch bag. There was also a wonderful salad with greens, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes, sundried tomatoes, cheese, peperoni, and salami (I think I missed something, but can't think of what.) My only complaint would be that the sundried tomatoes were a little too large, they would be a little more consumable if chopped. There was also a lovely peach which was very yummy and a jug of milk.

Yet to be consumed are a "tuna pack" of some sort (I haven't inspected too closely yet), cottage cheese, apple sauce, and fresh strawberries. That will make for a great snack with my morning pump break.

Of course I am saving the Andes mints for then too. Yum yum, I can't wait - they are of course, my favorite.

Thanks to my wonderful hubby for once again making me a phenomenal meal to take to work.
