will NOT be had in this household. But believe it or not, there is a recipe for it on the back of the bag of tator tots (which I'm embarassed to say we have in our freezer.)
My vacation food blog
Monday, July 18: Had the sister and bro-in-law over for dinner. Bill took the next step in perfecting his 50k burger. They were delicious and yielded a little more info as well as spawning some new ideas. Because his recipe is supposed to be top secret I can't tell you why they were so delicious, but take my word for it, they were.
Wednesday, July 19: Hubby brought See's candy as a treat. Only had one at the time, it was a chocolate chip truffle. MMMMMmmmmmmmm, yum yum.

Midweek Sweet
What's the midweek sweet you ask? It would be my hubby. Despite the fact that he worked all day, had to catch the train home in time for me to go to work, he still managed to put together a dinner for me. How sweet is that?
Dinner consisted of a turkey and goat cheese (I think it was goat cheese) sandwich on foccacia bread that was quite yummy. I also had a caeser salad that he purchased at a deli in the city and while it was good, it could not compare to the wonderful salads that Bill makes for me. He also included cranberry juice and oreo cookies (good to be 12 again.)
Overall, it was a good dinner, and even more so since once again, I didn't have to make it. Thank you!

It's good to be 12 again
Stealing a thought from our friend Steve T. - it's good to be 12 again. Why is this relevant, and why is it on the food blog? Cuz that's the way I felt today while eating my Oreo's and milk. Yum yum.

McDonalds is just not the same anymore.
I admit it - I use to be a McDonalds junky. It was just so quick, convenient, and relatively cheap. Besides, I like the french fries. In any case, since my hubby has been spoiling me with all this homecooked goodness Mcdonalds is just not the same. We were out yesterday, and starving, so we went by McD's and got the usual. It really didn't hit the spot like it used to - in fact, I'd have to say that I finally get what all of you have been saying for years about it being terrible. My poor hubby though, it just upped the bar for home cookin'.

Much in the food news this weekend
Saturday night:
Yummy salad which included the missing ingredients from Fridays salad, including some interesting mint croutons. (Actually some thin mints that fell into the salad.)
Skirt steak which for skirt steak was grilled to perfection with a wonderful blend of seasonings and some delicious grilled potatoes. This was accompanied by yogurt, a nectarine, and something else that sadly I can't remember.
Sunday:
Before work, Bill grilled up some delicious (probably the best I've ever had) hamburgers. He is on a mission to win the $50,000 best burger contest and is beginning work on his creation. Tonight was step one, and if it's any indication of what's to come, he will definitely win.
Dinner at work:
Tacos, another delicious Spinach salad, more yogurt (getting tired of yogurt), milk, root beer, two apricots that I swear were as big as my head and pretty tasty too, and red vine licorice which everyone in my room enjoyed.
It's so wonderful having a personal chef, and it's also nice to have everyone at work a little jealous of that fact. :)
Good work, thanks once again.

I am sooooo spoiled
Tonights dinner would be better than the average dinner that people take to work - in fact it was better than most people take to work. However, I have apparently become very spoiled. I had a perfectly lovely spinach salad with goat cheese, but I kept wondering what happened to the olives, the sun dried tomatoes, and the croutons. How terrible is that. In addition to the salad, the chef prepared quite a lovely turkey and smoked gouda sandwich, provided with milk, oreos, blackberry pie, pringles (I think the chef may have been PMSing with all the treats.) ;) Oh yeah, I also had some wonderful Queen Anne cherries which I loved, not just because they are my name sake, but because they were perfectly ripe, sweet, and delicous.
I was so starving by the time I finally got to eat, that I had everything in one sitting instead of spreading it out over the night. Silly me - my tummy hurt the rest of the night from that.
My thanks again to the incredible chef.

Chicken salad
Delicious chicken salad sandwich made by my hubby, Wild Chef Bill. He does a great job with it, but somehow even this couldn't go down very well tonight. I didn't get to eat till 5:00 because of my "work" with Tyler. Needless to say nothing was going to taste good then. The rest of the fare is stuff that would also have been equally delicious if my mind were not on other things. I had a great spinch salad with feta, olives, croutons, etc., peaches, cottage cheese, and not one but two packs of cookies - milanos and oreos. Yahoo! Perhaps next week I'll be more in a frame of mind to blog.

When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie...
So far dinner has consisted of a delicious pizza sandwich similar to last nights, but even better as it also had olives on it - yum! It was also still warm when I got to eat it as it had been wrapped nicely in foil.
My 4:00 snack looks like it will consist of a mixed green salad (one of my favorites), yogurt, and oreos. Strange mix you say? Delicious treats I say.
It's Amore! Thanks honey.

Thursday Dinner
Yes, I don't usually blog about dinners during the week, but last night calls for a blog. I had a meeting to go to (which was apparently cancelled or moved), so being very angry I called the hubby. While I was on my way home, he made me a little baguette sandwich (which I ate open faced) with smoked gouda, salami, and pizza sauce. A simple creation really, but very good, and the fact that he made it for me changed my whole attitude for the night. BTW, he also had See's candy for me as a little surprise.
